BUC DAYS PORT OF CORPUS CHRISTI LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

DALE CARNEGIE GRADUATION 2022

February 16, 2022 – The Buc Days Port of Corpus Christi Leadership Program began back in December.   Twenty students were chosen out of over 100 applications.  They are all high school seniors and were chosen based on academic standing, extracurricular and community activities, and an interview and essay competition.

The Buccaneer Commission will graduate the Buc Days Leadership Program participants from Dale Carnegie Training this Saturday night.  This dinner will celebrate the skills the students have developed after five customized Dale Carnegie Program sessions.  The classes focused on developing personal relationships and public speaking.

The students will continue to use these skills as they attend community awareness, industry tours and service projects.  Students will complete the Leadership Program on May 7, 2022.

A total of $70,000 in scholarships will be award to the 20 scholars at the conclusion of the program. Each student will receive a minimum of $3,500.  Awards will be announced just before the Buc Days NavyArmy Night Parade on May 7, 2022.

The Buccaneer Commission first awarded scholarships in 1996 and has awarded over $1,400,000 in scholarships and grants!  The Buccaneer Commission’s plan is to continue to broaden the array of scholarship offerings and the dollars awarded each year.
