BUC DAYS STEAM DAY, AG & INDUSTRY DAYS, EDUCATIONAL ROBOTICS CONFERENCE, AND STEAM EXPO
Corpus Christi, Texas – March 18th, 2025 – Buc Days is excited to expand its STEAM programming with the addition of a STEAM Day presented by ExxonMobil Foundation, Ag & Industry Days presented by ExxonMobil Foundation, and several new competitions within the STEAM Expo presented by Gulf Coast Growth Ventures. To further support local education, Buc Days will also host a robotics conference for Coastal Bend educators, offering essential resources to strengthen robotics education in the classroom.

- NEW May 1-2 – FIRST® Robotics Competition presented by ExxonMobil Foundation
- High school students (grades 9-12) build robots to take on a challenging “game.” This hands-on experience promotes teamwork, creativity, problem-solving, and inspires the next generation of leaders in STEM and robotics.
- NEW May 2-3 – Educational Robotics Conference presented by ExxonMobil Foundation
- Learn about best practices and emerging technologies in educational robotics at a hands-on summit for educators. The event connects 24 educators each day, addressing challenges faced by mentors and school districts. Expert-led sessions and collaboration opportunities provide valuable insights into the future of robotics education in Texas.
- NEW May 3 – STEAM Day presented by ExxonMobil Foundation
- Elementary and junior high students will explore STEAM education through interactive experiences, including a high-energy science show and hands-on breakout sessions with Mad Science, Texas A&M University Kingsville, and This Ones For The Gals.
- May 3 – FIRST® Tech Challenge presented by CITGO
- Witness the talents of students in grades 7th to 12th at the FIRST Tech Challenge Buc Days Robotics Rodeo, an invitational event in partnership with FIRST® in Texas, showcasing achievements from the 2024-2025 FIRST Tech Challenge Center Stage season.
- May 3 – Buc Days Canstruction Junior
- Students and youth groups utilize STEAM principles to create innovative can art structures using unopened cans of food. Art structures will be on display throughout the duration of the festival. Once Buc Days is complete, cans will be donated to the Coastal Bend Food Bank.
- May 4 – FIRST® LEGO® League presented by Valero
- Offers hands-on learning experiences for ages 4-16, exploring robotics and problem-solving while nurturing teamwork and creativity.
- NEW May 5-6 – Buc Days Ag & Industry Awareness Days presented by ExxonMobil Foundation
- 1,000 third-grade students will explore agriculture, farming, livestock, and key industries through a hands-on school field trip, in partnership with Nueces County 4-H, Texas Farm Bureau, and local industry partners.
- NEW May 7 – Buc Days Public Speaking Competition
- Students will showcase their speaking skills by competing in categories like Animal Science, Agriculture Policy, and more at the Buc Days Public Speaking Contest.
- NEW May 9 – Buc Days Food Show
- Students will showcase their culinary skills, enhance their presentation and interview abilities, and promote healthy eating habits. This event also offers an opportunity to highlight the importance of nutritious meal preparation and behavior.
- May 10 – Buc Days Food Challenge presented by H-E-B
- Youth teams showcase culinary skills and nutrition knowledge as they craft dishes using predetermined ingredients, learning about healthy eating habits while demonstrating their creativity in the kitchen.
- NEW May 10 – Visionarios Best of Show
1st place winners from the Visionarios Youth Art Competition compete for best of show. Finalist art pieces will be displayed on a curated art wall throughout the festival, and winners will be announced on May 10, 2025, with cash prizes awarded to the top three finalists and recognition for all participants.
As part of the Buc Days STEAM Expo presented by Gulf Coast Growth Ventures, 4,000 students are expected to participate, with $37,000 in prize money awarded.
The Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History and the Art Museum of South Texas will be included in the Buc Days Festival Grounds footprint as part of the price of admission.
