Buc Days Port of Corpus Christi Leadership Scholars Selected;
$80,000 In Scholarships Awarded In May
Corpus Christi, TX, January 12, 2024 – The Buccaneer Commission is thrilled to announce the 2024 Buc Days Port of Corpus Christi Leadership Program Scholars. These students begin their semester long program with a Welcome Reception on Friday, January 12, 2024, at the Henry Garrett Center at 5:30 PM. The scholars are:

These high school seniors were selected from a group of 165 applicants from within the 11 counties in Coastal Bend. These individuals have demonstrated exceptional academic standing, notable extracurricular involvement, and excelled in a rigorous interview and essay portion. Throughout the semester, the selected scholars will undergo Dale Carnegie training, Community Service, Awareness Trips, and a Mentoring Experience. Each scholar will be paired with a Buccaneer Commission volunteer based upon the student’s career interest. The scholar will meet with their Mentor for a minimum of two 1-hour sessions to engage and learn about their interests. They will report back to the group in the form of a final project and presentation.
A total of $80,000 in scholarships will be awarded to the 20 scholars at the conclusion of the program. Each student will receive a minimum of $3,500. Awards will be announced at Rodeo Corpus Christi presented by Miller Lite on Saturday, May 11, 2024.The Buccaneer Commission expresses gratitude to all applicants and congratulations to the 2024 Port of Corpus Christi Leadership Scholars for their remarkable achievements thus far. Buccaneer Commission Mission: Promote tradition and community pride in the coastal Bend by producing exceptional family entertainment that results in educational scholarships and grants. To date, the Buccaneer Commission has awarded over $2 million dollars in scholarships and grants.
